The Old Monk's Orchid

 

An old monk kept a pot of orchid. He took good care of this elegant orchid and loved it very much. He often watered the orchid, kill weeds and pest. Under the careful care of the old monk, the orchid grows very healthy and beautiful.

When the old monk wanted to go out to meet his friends, he entrusted this pot of flowers to the young monk and asked him to take care of it. The little monk is very responsible and takes care of the orchid like the old monk, and the orchid grows vigorously.

One day, the little monk watered the orchid and placed it on the windowsill before going out to do errands. However, it rained heavily, and the strong wind knocked over and smashed the orchid. The little monk rushed back and saw the broken branches and leaves all over the place. He was very sad, and he was afraid that the old monk would blame him.

A few days later, the old monk came back, and the young monk told him about the orchid and was ready to accept his blame. But the old monk said nothing. The little monk was surprised, because it was the old monk's favourite orchid after all.

The old monk smiled lightly and said, "I don't grow orchids to get angry."

A simple sentence expresses an open-minded attitude towards life.

We don't work to be angry; we don't consume to be angry; we don't love to be angry.

If it doesn't work out, let it go.
